Many others are still trying to figure this out, or worse, decide to leave out the benefits of multiple wavelengths. By sequentially pulsing the light, we can eliminate harmonics in the light, thereby allowing you to achieve faster, better results.

Anti Aging

As we age, our skin becomes naturally thinner, loses moisture, and becomes less elastic. The age at which this naturally occurs varies and is genetic in origin. Some of us will appear to age more slowly due to the genetic gift of our parents. Others will age more quickly and may look older than their actual years.

One of the main factors in aging skin is collagen. A large, moist molecule, collagen is the building block of our skin. The body naturally reduces the production of collagen as we enter the 50's and 60's. Without the collagen, the skin becomes less supple and elastic, it thins, and color changes take place. The result is an increase in lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and age spots (hyper pigmentation).

Perhaps the largest component of skin damage in the baby boomer's is sun damage. Baby boomer's may be the first significant group of individuals to deliberately expose their skin to large doses of sunlight from an early age. Physicians now report that the sun damage seen by many of those in their 40's, 50's, and 60's is a result of early overexposure to the sun - mainly in the teenage years. Early exposure to the sun to exacerbate the natural changes which occur later in life. The skin's thinning, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots are all made worse with the visible damage appearing sooner - making the person appear older than he or she is chronologically. Medical studies have also shown cigarette smoking as another culprit in skin damage.

Medical science suggests that once the injury to the body and skin has occurred, little can be done to prevent the ensuing appearance of skin damage. The lines, wrinkles, and hyper pigmentation will gradually emerge. The individual is then left with the option of appearing older than he or she is or taking aggressive steps to restore, rejuvenate, the skin through current techniques and treatment.

Acne

Acne, the most common of all skin disorders, is a traumatic experience for millions of youngsters and adults. As Sulzberger & Zaldems said in 1948, "There is no single disease which causes more psychic trauma, more maladjustment between parents and children, more general insecurity and feelings of inferiority and greater sums of psychic suffering than does acne vulgaris."

Acne is a disorder resulting from the action of hormones and other substances on the skin's oil glands (sebaceous glands) and hair follicles. These factors lead to plugged pores and outbreaks of lesions commonly called pimples or zits. Acne lesions usually occur on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. Although acne is usually not a serious health threat, it can be a source of significant emotional distress. Severe acne can lead to permanent scarring.

Found over most of the body, follicles consist of a sebaceous gland connected to a canal, that contains a fine hair. These are most numerous on the face, upper back, and chest. The sebaceous glands make an oily substance called sebum that normally empties onto the skin surface through the opening of the follicle, commonly called a pore. Cells called keratinocytes line the follicle.

The hair, sebum, and keratinocytes that fill the narrow follicle may produce a plug, which is an early sign of acne. The plug prevents sebum from reaching the surface of the skin through a pore. The mixture of oil and cells allows bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) that normally live on the skin to grow in the plugged follicles. These bacteria produce chemicals and enzymes and attract white blood cells that cause inflammation. (Inflammation is a characteristic reaction of tissues to disease or injury and is marked by four signs: swelling, redness, heat, and pain.)

Acne Treatment - With Quasar Therapy:

Only recently discovered, blue and red/infrared light therapy offer substantial benefit over the traditional approaches to acne treatment. Previous methods focused on either medication (Accutane or Retin-A) or topical products such as Proactive. The downside of these products lies in their cost, side effects and the inconvenience factor. Clinical studies have shown that a combination of red and blue therapy work better than the previous acne treatments, is less costly, and has no side effects. Having good acne information is critical to making acne treatment decisions.

The combination of blue light (416-420 nanometers) which kills the P. acne bacteria and red/infrared (600-1200 nanometers) which shrinks pores and reduces sebum, attack the causes of acne and will dramatically reduce inflammation and redness associated with acne. The red/infrared light of the Baby Quasar additionally stimulates the healing response to reduce scarring from acne.
